Talking 944 rear wheel shaft & model year differences

Does anybody know what is the difference between the 86 and 87-89 rear wheel shafts?

The axles are the same for 86-89 944 and 86 951, but the rear wheel shafts are different between the 86 944/951 and the 87-89 944. They all have the same rear wheel bearing and locking nut but the wheel hub is different I assume due to different offset of the later cars. Given that the rear wheel shaft might be longer, but I would like to know for sure.
