I got some very good rates from progressive,

However I am 30 now married and have 4 cars on the policy (88 Turbo, 84 944, 83 944 & 03 ML320)

It was in fact 50% less than Geico for the same coverage.

If you want to pay very little then you have to go with Liability only. It is the only way.

If you want to roll the dice you can do legal limit minimums. I did that for a few years after college. I probably should not have, but everything worked out. *whew*

What every you do DON'T Get a speeding ticket. That will cause your rates to double or more.

I'll have to agree with Tom R. on the risk to the parents, I don't own a vehicle with less than $1M in liability coverage. Medical bills can reach this amount very quickly. When my son starts driving, he'll have his own policy or a bicycle, his choice.
I just noticed that I put 0's instead of 9's. Sorry. Lets just make it 1.5 tons to be simple.
I checked out a book on insurance coverage and it helped me come to some of these decisions. I don't buy into the fact that all cars should carry the same amount of medical liability and so fourth. To me that is just blind. Drive around an H2, and drive around a 944. Get into an accident. What car is more likely to possibly severly injure the occupants of the other car. I'd like to think the 944 is rigid and safe, but I dont think that would be a smart judgement to make. Most 944's I see that have been in an accident are totalled. The insurance book I read even had some collision statistics based on the 1984 944 Coupe. The car back in 1987 had a 130% higher rate of collision damage than other cars in its class (sports cars/specialty).

I see Tom's point. I think my family has some insurance over this already. Like at least 1,000,000 dollars asset protection... at least.

I just wanted to say that I'm not trying to argue you guys down. Please tell me I'm wrong if you think so. I want to make the best decision based upon what you guys think as well. Thanks!

I think I'm gonna stick with my families policy, and do some extra teenage driver type of discount deals to get me a little better premiums.
