Check the '77 NA it might have the large valved high compression euro motor in it or else it will have the 95HP US motor. '78 and up have 110- 115HP. If the car has beeing sitting for a while the fuel system is probably varnished and the fuel tank is probably rusted. Be prepared to clean and reseal the fuel tank or find a good replacement. Fuel pump is probably shot (pierburgs are ~$150) and then injectors are probably clogged up and need replacement so ~$30-40/each. That should get the car started and then from there you'll have to slowly get the CIS distributor cleaned out and you might also need a new WUR.
The turbo sounds a lot better but it has an interference motor so if this guy knows jack about cars it has probably been neglected and the belt slipped or broke which is causing the no start. As with a 944 a belt slip=bent valves and possible head damage so it'll be costly to fix.
Hope this helps in your decision making. Also if you do decide to get one of these I have a ton of 924 parts from my '78 that got wrecked a couple of months back.
