When did 911's change over to the late-style offset?

Yup, '89 was the last year you can get early-offset wheels on a 911. Personally, I like the look of 16x8/9" Fuchs on a 951 (16x8" 951 Fuchs on front, 16x9" 911 Fuchs on rear).

Dan,
my brother will probably sell his 15" phone dials from his late offset 89 NA if you want them.

They are on the car in the signature picture below.

Or if you want my 16" D90s, 7&8" width from my late offset S2. Which I have snow tires for.... gotta see if a fellow board member still wants them first.

Sorry, cant have my 16" 968s

Tom--How is your brother's car doing? Is he finally happy with this one?

And I agree 100% - the deep dish of the earlier wheels are way better looking. ABS--what a waste!

Tom.

I read your post and am very sorry you can't have your 16" 968 rims. I will definitely help you out and take them off your hands. j/k.

As far as the phonedials I already have 15" on there but was looking for 16"s. I really love the 968 rims but since you are being greedy and keeping them for yourself I am thinking about the bigger phonedials unless I come across another set of rims like yours. Keep me in mind if you come across another set.

Any chance you have a pic of the D90s on a car?

Andy,
He was pretty happy with the 84 he put 80k on in three years. I hope Skoot has as good luck with the car he had. He likes the new one, just missing something the 84 had he says. go figure.

Dan,
I will post a pic in a little while with the d90s. gotta find it first.

I have complete 86 Turbo front and rear spindles, hubs, etc if you really feel like getting the wider lip phonies in 16"

What does it take to install them? How much you looking for?

Dan,
I don't want to be accused of supplying 'bogus info' so I'll defer to the experts on what all's involved in the swap. I 'think' the lower control arms need to be changed out also to the 86 style which are a bit shorter. I'm 'not sure' about the brake mounting but the ABS has to go to do the swap. It's probably not worth the effort just to get an early offset wheel although the early phones with polished lip and Anthracite centers are killer. If you are interested PM me.

That would be an incredible amount of work to fit an ancient wheel style to a car. For what you would pay for the suspension, wheels, etc you could have bought correct aftermarket wheels. Further, why downgrade?
