UNBELIEVABLE...

Guys, watch what you say. The owner happens to be a friend of mine, and is a very nice guy and an UBER 951 enthusiast.
He has dumped a small fortune into that car to make it the cleanest 951 in the world. It may not be stock, but I'd bet that you won't find another 944 or 951, stock or modified, cleaner than this one.
It may not be your cup of tea, and it may be overpriced to those who can't afford it, but I think the owner is just trying to see if anyone with sufficient funds is in the market for such a car. Don't be so quick to trash him!

Everyone on this board knows that the amount of money put into a car is irrelevant when it comes time to sell it. Not even a brand new 1986 turbo parked in a climate controlled garage for 18 years is worth what his buy it now price is. You should talk to your friend and get him into therapy. He is obviously delusional.

Honestly, kids, if you think that $10,000 is the high ceiling for a 951 price, then you have no idea what a concours car is, would not appreciate one if you saw it, and probably couldn't tell one from a shined up beast on a used car lot. It is probably a good thing that you can do no more than laugh at pristine and low-mile cars, as they would obviously degrade to your standards in your hands.
I don't have the money or facilities to restore or maintain a car to the level that that 951 is, and mine is far from that condition, but there is a whole community of enthusiasts out there to whom it is important that there be no corrosion on steel or plated parts and fasteners, not a scratch on the torque tube or catalytic convertor heat shield, not a thread out of place on the interior, and that every last nut and washer on the car gleams. You should appreciate that there are in fact people who maintain cars to these standards and that someone thought a 951 worthy of such treatment, so that some good examples remain of just what made the 944 series great.
The seller's price may be high and is obviously too rich for everyone's blood here, but rather than making fun of it like school children, try to show a little appreciation for someone who put far more effort and money into one car than you will put into ten. When you make comments like some of the ones in this thread and other similar threads, you speak more about yourselves and the Rennlist community than about the car.
(and yes I realize that that car has too many modifications to be considered 'concours' . . . . but there is something to be said for period-correct BBS wheels and proper power/drivetrain modifications)
I'm not speculating whether the car is worth what he is asking; I'm saying quit acting like schoolchildren.

Tony, I don't think anyone is tearing down the car or the owner. The car is simply priced way too high for what it is and I'm sure you see that. $20-$25K maybe, $45K?, no way.
Be careful, with 460 posts you might be considered as part of the "Rennlist 944 crowd".

I know, Pete, I'm overreacting a bit . . . . just get sick of the same thing every few weeks . . . And while it is obviously not the case here, many people *do* ask a significantly higher price than what they really want, just to ward off the cheapos..
Oops -- I probably just started a flame war with my post, but aw heck, I'll leave it as-is...
okay... /end rant

Nuts and bolts are supposed to hold the car together, not make it look pretty. I can apprecitate that this guy has spent time and money on this car. I like my cars to be driven not shown. I have never gotten into the concours thing and probably never will. Art is for museums cars are for the road!

Actually, it is for certain overpriced for those who can't afford it. No question about it. I would also go out on a limb and say that it is overpriced for those who can afford it.
Although for those of us without $45k for a 951 he offers up a rare (1 of only 3, thankfully) fake Ferrari/Fiero fakeydoo for only $21.5k.
