Default WTB - NA test pipe

Anyone selling or know of a cheap place to get a cat test pipe for the NA? I was going to make my own out of my already hacked up generic cat install, but Thinking it is going to be a real pain to get the angles right by hand.

Thanks, any advice would be appreciated.

What's the point? The n/a cars don't really suffer from backpressure problems as much as they do intake restriction through the AFM as I understand it.

First of all, I didn't get a high flow catalytic converter, I just got the universal cheapo they have at the local parts store, cut out my old one, and swapped this one in place of it. Only problem it is about half the length of stock, so I had to put an extension on it, so i have about 5 pipe clamps down there, and half of the joints are now leaking after a month of driving. It was kind of a rush job trying to get inspected before going to school, and it did it's job. I notice a huge difference in power with teh cat, compared to my old dead cat. It deadened it alot. So I wanted to just put in a straight piece so, A power, B much cheaper and easier than putting in a stock or hi flow cat, and C, sounds better with no cat IMO.

I had my old 84 cat cut off the down pipe and a piece of mild steel welded there for a straight pipe. Cost me only $35 bucks. Just do the same. THe exhaust sounds great after just a cat bypass and you do help give the car a little more respiration, i mean expiration of gas I love the sound of mine and will upload you a sound clip.

I had one for sale earlier. Joseph mitro bought it, and it didnt work for his S. You can see if he has it around, or you can do what i did: simply weld in a pipe from home depot in place of the cat. I did it with no specialty tools. Just use common sense and estimate the right angle. Theres plenty of clearance down there so you shouldn't have any problem. What i really recommend is getting a used cat form someone for 50 bucks or so. I chose the cat over the test pipe i made and the bursch exhaust...that says somehting, right? With the n/a cars, not having a cat will produce extra vibration and resonance.

Good luck.

I'm probably going to try to just weld teh piece in.. But see the problem I had when I put the cat in, was that myangle didn't come out quite right at the muffler side, causing the sealing ring to the muffler to not seal. no matter what I did i couldn't get it to seal, i untightened and retightened wiht all sorts of efforts, probably 20 times, and didn't get much better. See the biggest problem I have/had is that my old cat had some rust issues right at teh front side of it, so i had to cut back where there was clean metal, (about 4 inches in front of the cat), and some of what I cut off was where it angled I believe, so it's not as straight foward as one would think. But I'll figure it out. Just not sure if it'll be before it goes down for the winter. Just figured I would check if anyone had one around for cheap.
