Default Help with Upper Radiator Hose Clamp on Early 944

I tried to replace my upper radiator hose today without success. The hose is the original part in my 1983 and the screw of the clamp faces down. I was not able to access it from above or below the car - from below I didn't have a screwdriver long enough to reach above the fans, and above I can't wiggle the hose off or get the right angle to cut the clamp. I will try to purchase an extended screwdriver - but I wondered if anyone who had been through this had any suggestions at getting at the clamp. Thanks -

Jeremy

Dremel solves all.

Either that or get creative with a 1/4" drive, 6mm socket with numerous extensions & wobbles. You'll figure it out.

clamps are cheap... Cut it. ... Just don't cut the radiator too

I've had to do this several times and the easiest way is to remove the fan unit. unplug the fans and remove the three lower bolts that hold the plastic frame to the radiator, and then the three on the top. If you put the front wheels on ramps and do this from below, it should not take long. It's virtually impossible to get at these hose clamps from above.

I agree removing the fans will only take about 10 minutes. It's amazing how much room is in there once they are out.

Removing the fans on a 951 is a whole separate issue though. . .
