Yep I am mike. Anyways I'm not jumping on trying to get first bids on parts right after he had an accident. Let him rest and get things going again and when the time comes for him to sell the parts car or part it out then ask. I think it's kinda rude to even ask about things like that. I know I would feel bad if my car was totaled and I wouldn't be worried about selling parts right away.

p.s. there are fuchs on ebay right now if you are worried and been looking to get them for a long time.

Glad to hear you are ok, have full coverage and are getting another P-Car. It is also VERY mature of you to take full responsibility for the accident. Good luck in your search.

Interesting news popped up...turns out there may have been some fault on her behalf as well...she was going over the speed limit, and she was also talking to her father in the passenger seat....so the points that are now on my license may be taken off....will keep you filled in...

An SUV is an inherently poor and rather insensitive choice of vehicle insofar as it attempts to protect its occupants by killing the other guy; the things are rolling safety hazards - they have huge blind spots, awful CGs, you can't see around them and the mass of the vehicle is right about where the glass of most "normal" car drivers (including 944s) is - to say nothing of the heads of the drivers. The braking action sucks as well - it's a lot easier to stop a 2,500 or even 3,000 pound car than a 5,000 or 6,000 pound SUV.

It just seems unnecessary to me to go out of your way to endanger the lives of your fellow motorists so you can pretend to be part of the "Eddie Bauer" crowd while the truth is you're probably a cubicle rat and will probably never take the thing on a dirt road, much less off-road. Poseur wagons. Bah!

I am sorry but this is the biggest pile of BS that i have heard in a long time, its right up ther with rocks post earlier, who are you to judge who i am because of what i choose to drive? My wife is actually the one who drives our SUV, and you are correct in your assumption of if she gets in an accident I can say with reason she will be ok, but also my wife is small compared to most 105 pounds, if she was driving my prelude and she got into an accident she would have much greater chance of getting hurt than me. She also has to drive 30 miles to and from work on country highways with an average of 40+ inches of snow a year, not to mention deer, and other morons speeding along. And just to let you know, parts of your post i agree with, I feel uncomfortable driving 80 MPH in it, i have to build my way there, i also agree with the fact of people getting them just to "be cool" but you need to put some more thought into your post before you type a bunch of BS like that.

Cut the crap, guys... can we just grieve the loss of another 951 and give our sympathies to Tim??

Sorry to hear it happened man, but what's done is done. You're right. Don't let the insurance adjusters take claim of it! Get it seen by a Porsche specialist or dealer and get THEIR estimate. It will be a whole 'nuther story if you get theirs and submit it.

Guys, lets keep our eyes out for a new p-car for Tim

...Russian Rocket... wow, I'm VERY sorry to hear that! That isn't something you soon forget Tim, glad to hear everyone is OK!

Oh man I'm sorry to hear about all this. I hope everything works out ok with the insurance company, and most importantly, you are ok. On the bright side, maybe now you can get a less problematic P-car with the money made from parting out the wrecked 951.

Tomorrow I will make it a point to still be in bed alseep at 9:51 am.

It's good to see that you're in such good spirits, even if it's just because of the pain killers. I'd be completely bummed no matter who's fault it was. Good luck with everything.

Bloodraven, I'm really sorry to hear this. I remember how patient you've been with that car, working to get it back in running condition over the past several months, and you don't deserve such bad luck.

As others have said, though, you're doing the right thing in looking at the silver lining in the cloud: there's good money to be made in parting it out, and you seem to have the space to do it.

Good luck, and I for one look forward to seeing you in another Porsche really soon!
