When I put my 17' wheels on I left the factory spacers on the back of my '84 NA....I like how the wheels fill up the rear wheel wells.....I also had plenty of turns on the lug nuts. I get just a little rub when I have a passenger and hit a good bump..but I usually don't have a passenger...

I just put on my 86 N/A some 17 Genuine Porsche Cup 1's and they don't have enough spacing they are to far in the wells. I have 52mm front offset and 55 rear offset. Any suggestions on sizes of spacers?

I believe the spacer usually used is around 20-25MM. The stock (84) is 23MM, but I'm not sure about 86. Do a search.
nineeagles... you may need to roll your fenders or shave the inside of the wheel-well slightly if you're really worried about it.

I've been told 21mm and 28mm in the rear. Though i have yet to buy those sizes and have left my boxster crabs in my garage for 6 monthes. I however have an 86' and those factory spacers you have on yours aren't on mine. Your rear factory spacer should be 21mm, which should be good for the front spacer and 17" rim, whereas you would then need a 21+28mm spacer for the rear. Thats about 2 inches less 3mm. 2" 5x130mm aluminum spacers sell on ebay all the time.
Try here for better info than me though.

You have much to learn young Jedi...
You need to check the year. The Early offset is 23MM the late is 52MM. The 86, if I remember right was a little different from both of these, but it may be 52MM. The 21MM is to get an early offset to the late offset. If the rubbing isn't bad, then the wheels are probably the later offset, in which case they are only off buy about 3 MM. The problem is that I'm not sure if the 86 was that offset for sure.

Here's the problem. ALL '86 and earlier cars used 23mm offset wheels. The '82-85 cars had a rear 21mm spacer. BUT the '86 cars, 951 and 944NA, used the 23mm offset wheels WITHOUT the 21mm spacer for some strange reason. So the rear wheels on the '86 cars appear to be inset about 1" more than the front, really bizarre. I have not yet been able to get an answer from any official Porsche source about why this was done.
So, the procedure to make the '86 cars appear normal, is to get longer rear studs and put that 21mm spacer back on. Then both front & rear wheels will look normal.
nineeagles, you can remove the stock 21mm rear spacer and put in a 10-15mm one to reduce the rubbing on the fender. There's way more room on the inside than the outside. That's why Porsche increased the offset when going from the Turbo to TurboS cars. They pretty much placed all of the extra width on the inside rim-edge. With careful calculation of offsets, you can fit 10.5" wide rims in front and 11.5" wide in the rear without any rubbing.

I have another set of .75 spacers and I wonder if they would filt on the front of my 84....as i already have them on the back.....I might just try it to see how it looks....might be too much for the front
