Late OPRV Seals vs. Early
In PET I can only find the part number for the two seals on the end of the early OPRV.
Is it the same part number for the single seal on the late OPRV?
thanks,
Adrial

there is only one o-ring on the end of each valve, the early cars with the three piece valves use valve # 944 107 035 11, this needs o-ring #944 107 935 11, The 87 and later cars that were originally equipped with the one piece valve use #944 107 035 01 and o-ring #944 106 935 01, both valves use seal ring #N 043 815.3

Thats weird, PET listed 999.707.144.40 (quantity 2) for the 1989 951...
Are they standard O-rings? Or are they especially tight (high tension, I guess is the word?)?

FWIW, the 3 pc OPRV does not use any O-rings. The numbers above are correct according to my ref. books, but the 944 107 035 11 part number, and the following O-ring number is for the "early style" one peice OPRV ( fig. A below). This is a one peice valve replacement for the 3 peice design only. (can't buy the 3 pc. any longer). Note: my book only covers up to 1988. Don't forget to change the metal seal ring also, PN: N 043 815 3 for all one peice valves.

the part number you list is not for the oprv o-rings, it is for the alum. tube that connects the oil filter adapter to the block, there are indeed two of those o-rings. I meant that the ---11 part number valve is the update for cars that were originally equipped with the 3 piece valve, not that the part numbers represented the original valve itself. Sorry to be so confusing.

On that short aluminium tube that connects the oil-filter housing to the block, there's an inside and outside end!!! If you put it on backwards with the wrong O-ring, it will mix oil with coolant!!! The correct part# is updated and is a green O-ring. One on each end.
DO NOT put that tube on the block first, because it will go in too deep. Then the end going into the housing won't seat fully and you'll have a leak at the outside. Put the short end with the O-ring closest to the end on the outside filter-housing first. Then push the housing with tube onto the block.

Danno....I never knew that. Which partially explains why and possibly HOW my first replacement motor retired the rod bearings after 100miles. There should be bigger-than-life-signs of warning everywhere before attempting to install this critical part!
