Every time I drive the 951 I feel like I'm the lucky guy who bought it new off the showroom floor in Zürich, Switzerland in August of 1992. A year after the car was built.

These cars were too good for their time. They made the contemporary 911s appear dated and overpriced. Now Porsche builds 25K Boxsters per year to fill the market segment our cars left behind, and the build quality doesn't even come close. I'm sticking with my 951, thank you!

4re308,
Couldn't agree with you more.

Is it your 951 that I see going south on 400 in Alpharetta in the afternoon? Whoever's car it is - it's HOT!

I hear all of you......the 951 is cant-take-your-eyes-off eye candy all day long! Unbelieveable that a design this old... still maintains that timeless, contemporary edge! I have tried in vain- but cannot find a single ANGLE this car looks bad in. DANKE...messrs Lagaay und Schutz!

For me- the BEST part of owning this particular 951....is that I got her for the unheard-of price of......$1380USD!! The PO thought the car was on her "last legs alive" and was desperate to unload her the day I saw her. Inside, I knew exactly the hard/erratic/stalling/start/run condition was due to numerous vacuum leaks, and the DME FI relay. However, I played the dumb, unsuspecting, but MOTIVATED project owner-prospect to the hilt- in hopes the price may drop even lower. Needless to say....I not only drove the overheating 951 27mi to her new home...but did it in searing 99degree summer heat w/ no A/C!

I may have sweated bucketloads that day- but it all ENDED when I plugged the new 993-part number DME relay into "Portia". She never made another snicker, much-less pout, when first waking her up. When changing the timing/balance shaft belts two days after her purchase- I learned the previous belt change interval was at LEAST 70k ago! I never saw a belt so riddled with multiple hairline fracture cracking in my life...the heavily glazed, thinning and brittle belt was just ABOUT TO BLOW!!! Teeth inside the old belt simply busted right off like freshly-cooked corn kernels. The old balance shaft belt was already
missing many teeth.

As of this writing- the remaining semi-critical issues appear to be a front-end alignment, smog, and oil pan gasket re-torque. I dont care- I'll gladly DO IT ANYWAYS....!

Zach
I LOVE that redhead!

Serge knows better than to stare aimlessly at his screen all day long. He actually wrenches and drives his Porsche 944 NA!

Can't have one without the other. If i dont wrench, I wont be able to drive. I have to drive to wrench; otherwise theres not incentive.

As much as i want a 951, im content with the 944. Finally got the suspension tuned to my liking. Although some spherical bearing suspension bits would be BOSS. :-D

I miss my baby; she's been in the shop for a week and a half, and in prime driving weather too. Sniff. Somebody help me, I'm in withdrawal.

I'm actually kidding about liking that part of P-car ownership.

It just happened to me a few minutes before I logged in so that's why I had to post that comment. But seriously I too ignore most of the idiots who do that. The only car I ever raced was a Chevrolet Tracker - and that's only because the kids inside of it begged me to race them, just to see how badly they'd get smoked.

But wow, people really get some sort of rage inside of them at times huh?

They sure do - that's why it amuses me so much. I just don't know how people can go around with so much self-loathing of their own lives / existence inside them all the time. It's so much easier to just change your situation. Or just get a P-car.
