Default windshield seal

Anyone know where I can get the rubber seal that goes along the outsideof the windshield? I can't find it at any of the usual places (Paragon, Pelican, etc)

Thanks
Chris

The part number has been superceeded to a 993 part number, iirc. You have to cut it to length yourself, it comes in a big loop.

If you can't find it at Paragon or Pelican, try your local dealership or mechanic. I paid something like $28cdn (incl pca discount) at www.weissach.com for mine, and they had it in stock.

The newer 993 part seems to be more matte and not as hard as the original one. Use something SOFT like your finger or something rubber when pressing it into the windshield. I used the back of a screwdriver and it kinda left some marks here and there.

944.559.535.04 - for VIN#'s
>>94FN4 57699
>>95GN1 50100

944.559.535.03 - for Vin#'s
>>94FN4 57699
>>95GN1 50101

But like I said when we brought the part# up in their inventory program, it showed the part number was superceeded anyways.

How timely... I just had my windshield replaced TODAY!, after staring at that damn crack for a whole year. Anyways, I ordered a new seal just to make sure I had the correct part ( I have an '86 951). I got mine from Auto Atlanta, for about 25 bucks. Probably right around the corner from you...

As Rich said, it's a 993 P/N: 993 541 925 00

I ended up having the old one reinstalled, since it has already taken the shape of the windshield. I did compare the old and the new, and the profile looks the same. One thing the installer showed me was that there is a small "notch" in the new rubber seal that corresponds to the centerline of the windshield, although not sure if it goes at the top or bottom. Inspect the new seal; you'll see and feel this notch.

As Rich said, the 993 part is made to go all the way around the glass on a 993, but on a 944, the seal only applies to the top and sides of the glass. The lower edges are cut a few inches long, the "barb" is trimmed from the back of the seal face, and that is tucked in under a flange at the hood corners. If your current seal is original, you'll see what I'm talking about.
