[Original Title] My Car is Punishing Me

Aparently since I went to the 1/4 mile strip the other night my car feels the need to punish me (why Porsche Gods why????). Anyway, I got home today from a good time last night and pull in the driveway, get the ramps out to change my oil, pull the underbody and clean it, check my wastegate, etc. While I'm in the barn looking for some wood to extend the ramps, so I dont scrape the AIR splitter, I hear the car die. WTF? I walked back outside and now I have no gauges and I cant start the car. It still cranks over but it wont start. I checked fuses for fuel pump/gauges etc, nothing seems wrong. I did a search which would lead me to believe this is either my DME relay or the back of my ignition switch? Any Suggestions? (Figures this is an AutoX weekend too) So i'd like to have this fixed to I can AutoX sunday.

Oh and if you are curious here is the slip from my best time:

R/T - 1.006 (terrible, I know)
60' - 2.258
1/8 - 9.241
MPH - 80.05
1/4 - 14.081
MPH - 101.16

Your car is getting you back for draggging it. That's why.

That'll teach you to go dragging the car!!

More seriously, check your speed and ref sensor connection.

So you have no gauges at all? No oil pressure if you crank for thirty seconds? Maybe poke your head under the dash and look for anything loose or off. Also, the computer controls might be loose or off???? Are all the gauges controlled by the computer like the boost gauge?

if you have the ability to turn the car over, and it just doesn't start, it's not the ignition switch. Try the DME relay.

Does anyone know if you loose the gauges if the DME relay fails?

well, the power to the gauge doesn't fail (you still get idiot lights and the chime and stuff) but the dme relay turns on the computer so you wont get rpm and maybe some other stuff (not sure what goes through the ecu)

To eliminate the reference sensors for being faulty, while starting the car look at the tachometer (rpm gauge). If it 'bounces', then the sensors are ok........

The tach doesnt bounce, NOTHING moves, and I have no indicator lights either. The whole dash is dead. The engine still cranks though.

Check fuses and relays, then ground wires, then speed and reference sensors.

I've checked ALL my fuses. Nothing is wrong there. What can I do to check relays (besides having extras that I DONT have). I really want to get this fixed today, as the car is my Daily Driver and there is an AutoX I'm pre-reg'd for tomorrow.

Wiggle the relays around and make sure they are tight,
Sometimes they just need a wiggle or 2 to work again!

Did you check the two grounds under the dash.
They're located above the hatch release button, lay on your back and look up.

I went through ALL the relays. Cyrus I checked the grounds, they are still intact. I guess I'm gonna go through the rest of the grounds on the car, seems most logical to me. AHHHG I missed somewhere around 5 AutoX's this year due to car and health problems. I WILL NOT MISS TOMORROW. *hopefully*

Ohh yeah, and the tach did bounce a bit when i tapped on the plastic when cranking the engine.

Sounds like the cluster might be dead. Remove it and make sure that you have the connections on it and they didnt come loose while you were putting it back in last time. Then grab a voltmeter and go to work on every connection that there is, start at the battery and work your way towards the cluster. Do you have the wiring diagrams or are you guessing?
