Powdercoated. Now that is much easier than anodizing.

Here is one I did in mirror red.

A cheap gun and some powder will cost you less than $50. Its good for playing around and seeing if its something you would like to do on a regular basis.

Columbia Coatings is where you need to go. They seem to be the cheapest for powdercoating stuff.

And while I am digging through my old pics I found an example of something anodized with no color added. Just for refrence.

Michelle, anodizing is very inexpensive. You usually pay for the "batch" not by part, so it is whatever can be fit in the vat at one time. Last I had stuff done the entire bin was like 70 bucks.

PC can be very cheap or VERY expensive, depends on which colors you choose. it is also a hard coating, takes a beating, and looks FANTASTIC. However, anything with thread can be a mother, as the coatings find their way in those threads and make screwing things back together nearly impossible.

Yeah. Most of what I read said to thread something into the holes. I know PC is easier than anodizing, but I really like the look of anodized aluminum. Maybe I'll putz around with both and see what I can come up with.

I'm doing anodizing out of my shop, small experimental batches so far. I'm gonna try anodizing a set of PhoneDial wheels next.
