More info would help, miles etc. I figure you can't touch a clean 951 in the metro NY area for under ~$8500 unless it has pretty high mileage a full rebuild will run $5-6000 and a clean 951 with a fresh rebuild isn't going to happen for less than $9-10K, more if the odometer reading is low to begin with. $2500-3000 should be fair to everyone involved.

Thanks

PS: I'm selling my Conquest for $2k so I'll have alil bit of cash.
It's kind of apples vs. oranges, but my '87 924S was $500 with blown timing belt and pretty much 100% chance of bent valves. Good body, no dings, nice paint, interior nice except for a split seam, no radio, and usual dash cracks. The owner tried fixing it, put the engine back together wrong and was sick of trying.

I guess a lot of it comes down to how much the owner wants to get rid of it. Has he been trying to make it run, or had it break down on him recently? That can bring down the price. Knowing what's wrong with the motor should help too so you can consider how much parts will run.

Hey,

I hope he will hold it for me to check out until Monday. I offered to mail a deposit, but he said not until I look at it

I guess he just doenst drive it and has no room. He has had the car since 1987 and is real sad to see it go..you know the whole "no room, no time, etc" thing. I feel for him, but I can give this car the time and attention it needs He doesnt know whats wrong with it, it runs but rough apparently. He said he could start it up for me and thats about it. Hopefully nothing too bad!

I hope I can get it for cheap

thnks
mike

imho $500 is rediculously low. the rolling chasis alone is worth alot more than that. any running, decent bodied 951 should probably fetch at least $2000 or so. there's always someone willing to pay for just the chassis to track or part.

a little different, but i sold a 93 Eagle talon tsi blown up motor, wouldn't run for $1300 and it didn't take more than a month to sell.

if you really want the car, i'd offer more.

Yeah, I know how LOW it is, but I was hoping I'd get lucky.

I'm prepared to pay a max of $2k, but any past that I wont have enough saved up for mataintence...or the insurance lol.

I'll dicuss it with the guy when I get to see him

well, how did it go? if you're lookin for a cheap(er) 951 you should just worry about the body and interior.. buy a wrecked rolling car and then grab a 951 engine and all the gooies, slap it in and really you'll still be head of the game and have a fun winter project!

I'd say 1k to 1.5k is all i'd give for it. Then agian I only paid $3800 for mine, after hearing what everone else has to say, i got a steal! (110k miles, recent t-belt, oil change, brakes ect, most service records)
