Default Centercap question...how does the crest attach?

Hey gang, I was wondering if anyone has ever had these type of centercaps apart. It looks like its just glued, but I cant confirm and dont want to start prying/pushing off if its perma-attached.

Im going to be repainting them in preparation for these: (which will also be repainted)

Thanks!!

why are you taking them apart? just mask off the crest and paint in the new color.. or better yet.. get a brush and paint the silver to the new color.. what are you trying to take apart? the crest from the cap or the cap top from the cap bottom? both sound .. impossible

Yeah, that was another one of my options. If it was easy I was just going to pull them off, spray and reattach rather than taping off or going in with the brush.

Mine were similar, but had a clip that pressed on the tabs also... I just pushed it through and hot glued the tabs once replaced.

There are 5 rivets, 3 that are part of the aluminum face that hold the steel back on and 2 darker rivets that are part of the crest. If you are careful you can drill the flared part of the darker rivets off and the logo will pop off. Don't drill too deep or you will have a nice hole in your logo. Use a drill of reasonable size, 3/8 - 7/16 works well. Once you have removed the larger part of the rivets you can push the logo off from the back side with a small punch. Silicone works great for reattaching.
