Brakes "creaking"

I've recently noticed a "creaking" sound from my brakes. It seems to be coming from the caliper/rotor/pad area. If I'm parked/stopped and stepped on the brakes (especially if I'm easing forward at a light, constantly applying/reapplying the brakes) they begin to creak. I have pretty descent brake feel, but not great, and I attributed this to poor pads (Mintex C-tech with a track weekend on them). Is this a problem/concern? What could be causing this?
A well respected (IMHO) 'lister said it could just be the pad "floating" around in the caliper due to the age of the car ('87, 108k miles). He suggested applying a little brake caliper grease to see if the "creaking" goes away.
Has anyone else experienced this?

If im in my driveway and raring to go (
) ill let off the brakes and push them in continuously.
the car moves about an inch at .2 MPH but they creak a little....is that what you're talking about? Or is it more severe?
