Default Clutch pedal flew to the floor

so i get in my car the other morning, push the clutch in to start it and it just flies to the floor....i still have the original clutch in....is this a sure sign of clutch failure or is it just the clutch master cyliner or slave cylinder?

Quiet Ashton. Probably one of the cylinders, many people replace both while they're at it.

Maybe its the line that goes from the master to the slave busted like mine did. I think this is a common problem since I have seen alot of ones from the factory that rub the steering nuckle...

I dont have a manual transmission car, but i did alot of research trying to learn about the clutch and slave cylinder due to a prospective buy. There is a fragile line that runs behind the dash. This line tends to crack and leak with age, check your clutch (or was it brake?) pedal for brake fluid dripping off onto the carpet. I think i am refering to the same line as Fishey.

you may need one of those socket pieces that has a joint in the middle of them to get to the clutch master cylinder bolts. i did when i needed to replace mine.

I would check this line as well as mine just blew too. You should be able to tell if it is this line as there will be fluid spraying into the engine bay and onto the ground when you push the pedal in.

Yep. If you don't have the obvious leak, plan on doing the clutch master and slave cylinders. fun fun

Last year I had the clutch replaced on my car. A few months later, I had to slow down on an uphill incline.. pushed the clutch in, and it stayed down!!! Was able to pull it back up and continue. The same thing happend a few weeks after that, but this time I could not get the clutch back up.. it made grinding noises when I tried to start in gear.

Towed it to the shop and all they did to fix it was BLEED THE CLUTCH. It's been fine since!

your mileage may vary!

If the clutch is new, yes. I wasn't so lucky.

I'd have the clutch inspected while I was at it. My clutch and master/slave went at about the same time. I'd say definately the master/slave need replaced, but the clutch is a possibility too.
