Default P/S Hose

I'm going to replace my power steering hose (the one from the reservoir to the pump) because it is leaking. My dilema is this:

Pelican Parts sells the OEM replacement hose for $ 64. Paragon Products sells an updated hose which also requires a fitting for a total of $ 40. I don't really care about the cost differential. Has anyone had any experience with the updated hose.

Which one should I get???

Get the updated hose. Its shorter and doesn't have to be tied back to keep from hitting the fan.

????? Just did this last week. I just used standard Gates hose from FLAPS and two hose clamps. There is no pressure in this line, and very little excessive heat. Cost me less than $3. The hose that was on there that I replaced was the same Gates hose and clamps and was at least 6 years old. So, I'll take my $3 fix and just replace it every 5 years or so, whenever it gets hard.

Could be just the clamps not working properly.
I found this while doing some research and the new clamps worked great, no leaks.
Oredered them from Pelican but I don't think they were the same part numbers.

Simply replace the two sold hose clamps on the fittings at the base of the reservoir, with Zebra clamps. They are available from Porsche as p/n 999.512.346.02 and 999.512.450.02. More often than not, these more flexible clamps solve the problem. The P/S line is, to my recollection, an expensive item. Kevin

That might be true but why then do so many of the OEM hoses leak. At $65 I can buy 10 nice hoses that will perform just as well. It's the clamps that seem to be the weak link not the quality of the hose. I'm no purist or concours freak; if I can find a comparable quality replacement at 1/6th the price I'm all over it. My $.02 worth.

I did the same thing with my first 951, except I got the hose out of my scrap box. All I cared was that it was rated for oil contact . Call me cheap, but it worked for the years I had the car. There are enough other high priced items for this car.
