Default Heater delete

Ok, weight is coming of the 924S track car. AC was deleted today (thanks Larry) and now I want to pull all fans and stuff from under the dash. The heater line goes from the water pump through the firewall and I assume the return line is the one directly below (at the firewall) which enters the back of the engine. So, can I simple cut the lines and splice them together?

I'd try to wait for a few other people to respond before you run to the garage, but. I see no reason this would be a problem, that is the routing anyway. The lines are different sizes tho, you'll need a stepped splicer, pretty sure it's 5/8" to 3/4". Also, be careful how you reroute the vaccume lines, I'm not sure on the early cars, but on the late there is a vaccume condenser that is in the system, I beleive that you can get rid of that as well, mainly for heat/AC controls andthe heater valve, hmm, actually it's manual isn't it??

Yes, you can spice them together or plug them at the pump and head with no Ill effects.

Good luck.

I had thought about doing that but did not know if water needed to flow back into the system (at the head). Does water only flow through the heater hoses when the heater is turned on?

the heater valve shuts it off when the heater is off.

Here is a diagram someone else posted that should answer all your questions. The head does not need the heater lines in place for proper circulation.

On my race car, that line is simply blocked off completely with an alu plate replacing the water neck in the rear, and a simple plug clamped on the front water neck.

just as a heads up, that diagram isn't accurate for the later years. i know for at least the s2, the valve is on the other side of the heater core in the circuit. porsche moved it above the exhaust manifold so if it leaked, it wouldn't leak on the clutch and kill it
