Good thing we still have a full complement on interior pieces to throw back in it if we want! I think th ePCA racers can breath a sigh of relief that we probably won't be joining their ranks imeninently... lol

Excellent point Skip!
The car is going to be hard to get as light as a 911 and the lack of HP makes weight reduction vital to being even close to competitive. The bigger brakes just make it more difficult and the power doesn't justify bigger brakes.

wow it looks like it got attacked by lemons! I LOVE IT!!! is that the factory color too??? It'd be nice to see that baby fly around the track and get all the 911 guys' attention. Tell your wife that you refuse to change the color for the sake of being a non-conformist and swallowing your pride....works every time Oh yea, and See's candies too!

sweet!! a yellow track car!! i love yellow (see my avatar)

i have my 944S interior partially stripped out, but have kept the carpet thinking i might leave it to avoid being placed in another class. i've removed a lot of the sound deadening material. where are you guys getting your roll cage from? and what did you use to remove all that gooey adhesive from the floorboards?

also, i might be at hallett in october (i'm taking the M3 this month) so i'll look for a bright yellow 944!

I'd suggest leaving it in the condition it's in or at most, just carefully mod the suspension. PCA, SCCA, and 944 Cup have different rules. One the biggest mistakes newbies to race cars make is to start modding the car before deciding on a class and/or reading the rule book. It's really easy to find yourself in a place you don't want to be. For the cage you should be safe following the SCCA guidelines. I can send them to you. Who is doing your cage?

Good looking car BTW.

I used 3M adhesive remover. I used both the spray and the bulk. Went through a lot of shop rags. It's not a fun job. Very tedious, but it can be done.

How big a rush are you in for a cage?

You guys may want to check the rules before you too far with more changes.

SCCA IT is good place to race. They do have some unique items in their rules that you may have to fix before you are legal with them. 944 cup rules are based on SCCA & PCA Stock classes.

If you get used to a weight reduced car you will have hard type racing in PCA stock class. My car probably 2390 lbs (minus spec ballast) and I can't imagine bring to the 2700-2800 PCA stock weight.

944 spec does have pretty good rule set based on really cheap low cost mods. Basicly the rules are strip out all you want, but dont' cut metal or add lighter parts. Keep most everything else stock except for shocks, springs, sway bars. No fancy shocks. no fancy rear coil overs. Stock brakes and stock motors. Sure go for intake before AFM and exhaust.

That is about it. Sure the details get into alot more, but that is concept. My 944 started out like yours. It was combo of beat-up 84 944 and wrecked 924S. Result was light cheap and lots of fun to drive. Eventually 944-spec was formed most for cars like this.

Oh... I race in GT4S with the PCA and I have no chance. I am rolling chicane, but at least I am in the show and faster than I-stock cars by signficant margin.
