power windows skipping
Hi,
My driver's side window in my 86' 944 makes a lot noise and skippes as I raise it. All the electrics seem fine. I've spayed all the mechanical parts and channels with wd-40. Do I need to disassemble everything and clean and re-greese them? Are there any worn parts I should look for?
Thanks for any advice,
Chris

My S2 chewed a tooth off the drive cog in the window regulator that caused a major clunk when the window went up and down... until it eventually stopped working altogether. Replaced it with one from a turbo.

most "common prblem and fix is"....
get some silicone lubricant spray, and spray liberally down the window glides, move window up and down several times.
"MUST" be silicone lubricant
next after that check the seals that the windows slide down make sure there not worn and not crimpped or catched, replace if necessary
next open door panel and check that the frame and mechanism (or teeth as aboth) are not broken or misaligned, also checkl the motor
9 times out of 10 the silicone lubricant does it !

Lastly, the regulator window-down stop, exceeds the roller travel inside the rails. When inspecting- be sure to see if the rubber window guides are not torn either. It could easily break the window, if rubber strips are binding. Fine-adjust the down stop making sure the plastic stopper is not loose, or shredded. Tighten the 10mm nut- once the top of the glass ducks beneath rubber sill trim. Test up/down operation several times slowly...to be safe.
