Default Coolant "leaking" question

Recently my car has been running a little warmer then usual. I have been keeping my eye on the coolant, which, for about a week was disapearing. I couldn't find leaks anywhere. I tightened all the hoses, and still I was losing anitfreeze. If I filled it up, I would go to half a tank in about 10 minutes, and then it would stay there. Today, I had it sitting for a minute when I ran inside for something, and when I came out there was a puddle under the car. I opened up the hood, and found that the tank was full- and overflowing. Where is my coolant going to and coming from?? Anybody have any ideas? My mechanic looked at it and said it is not the head gasket. Thanks

Is the tank itself in good shape? Sometimes they can get tiny cracks in them, and when the engine gets hot, coolant leaks out. Get the engine nice and hot, and then pop the hood and look for leaks. Also check the radiator cap itself to make sure it is still good.

Another thing...with the hood open, I revved the engine and saw bubbles coming from the hose into the tank. Karl, thanks, I think the cap could be a problem, so I will get a new one.

I had similar problem with my 83 for a short time - would lose coolant out of overflow tube in expansion tank. Did not run warmer, though. Replacing cap solved it.
