Must sell my 1989 944 Automatic
Need to sell my baby of 11 years. She is absolutely beautiful, people still think it's a new car. I hate to sell her but new house is a $$ pit. I posted an ad here early this year but couldn't follow through. Now I must. Details:
-74,000 miles
-Guards Red/black, leather, power seats, sunroof
-Recent timing belt, rollers, tensioners, etc. service by Silver Star Porsche
-New (under 2k miles) Yokohama 16" AVS-ES 100 tires
-Refinished factory 16's by Wheel Dynamics with centers (under 2k miles)
-Blaupunkt CD changer and in dash CD
-Lloyds mats with 944 logo
-Always garaged
-Recently replaced a lot of minor things, e.g, fog light, window switches, directional switch, hood shock, glove box lock, etc.
-Leather is in great shape, less than normal wear and tear
-Ice cold A/C
-Original paint, looks great. Some nicks here and there, small curb rash on passenger side (on car, not on wheel).
-Aftermarket and factory alarms
-Nose panel repainted by a great shop here due to stone dings.
-Has a small leak in rear main seal. I've had it looked at several times, not getting worse (not getting better either
-One accident in 1993 - hit from behind. No structural damage, fixed and looks great.
-Power passenger mirror replaced when some *** hole broke mine off in a parking lot (if I ever find that guy). New one looks good, but recently the power adjustment stopped working.
-Passed inspection and emissions with flying colors
-#2 stays lit when driving instead of D. This seems to come and go. It has a mind of it's own.
How is that for full disclosure?
I prefer to sell her her to an enthusiast. These cars are becoming extinct and this is a great example. She really runs and drives well. I also want to sell to someone who understands exactly what owning a 15 year old (though fanatically maintained) Porsche means in terms of maintenance.
I am in Long Island, New York. Will email pics to anyone interested. PM me if you have questions. Looking for a quick sale, but won't get ripped off.
Oh yeah, price. I was looking for around 8k earlier this year. Now I'm motivated to sell. Asking $5,000 OBO.
Thanks,
Chris

I live a few towns away from Chris. If someone is interested, and wants me to verify what Chris is saying I will stop by after work one evening (maybe we will meet in the lot of Home Depot and exchange contractor storys too). While not a mechanic, I can tell the difference between a dog and a gem.
I never met Chris, but I emailed him about this car a few months ago and whadda you know, the history has not changed.

One thing I left off in the interest of full disclosure, some minor carpet wear on the passenger side. Pretty typical for a 15 yrear old car.
Tom, thanks for offering to take a look at the car. I hope someone takes you up on that offer! Absolutely nothing to hide, I know this is damn fine car. Everyone who sees it compliments it.
I'll meet you anyplace besides Home Depot or Lowe's - I've been there so often I'm seeing those places in my dreams (or is it nightmares)!

It has the 2.7L motor. '89 was the last year of the 944 auto, this was the biggest motor available with that transmission.
I'll try posting some pics. If it doesn't work PM your email and I'll send to you.
