First start in 3-weeks...
Just finished up my indoc. period at SUNY Maritime, naturally the first thing i did when i got home was start my car up. Its been sitting for about 3 weeks now. I just started it, stalled twice. 3rd time it ran but was running very rough. Oil level and pressure is fine, plenty of gas. The rpms were fairly consistant at around 900rpms. Is this normal?I shut it off after about 10 seconds of the rough idling. Im afraid to start it up again with fear of damaging something.
Right now im thinking of attempting to catch up on 2.5 weeks of missed posts...and polishing my damn shoes again .

Hey there, welcome back. I let my 83 sit for weeks, sometimes months at a time, and the rough idle is normal at startup after sitting for awhile, and 900 rpm is the ideal idle range. But it's best that you drive it right after starting it, as IIRC those initial combustion gases can damage your catalytic converter and do other crummy things to your ignition, etc. unless you drive the car to run them out the exhaust. Just start it and drive it gently until you notice the oil pressure drop to the 1-2 bar range.
These cars sit amazingly well. My 951 once sat for over a year with only the battery disconnected and upon my return, fired right up and drove perfectly well.

I used to have hard starting problems but that was fixed when I got a new DME. Now after it sits for a while it fires right up. If it sits for a while it might idle rough for a minute, but no problems other than that.
