Question P car didn't start

Wife came out of work and our 87 924S just cranked but would not start. Layed on a wrecker for next morning and it started right upwith no problem. Now I don't know what to do, just had a very bad incident ($2400. bill) at my repair shop, over charged and some work not even done so I don't trust them anymore. They (the shop) on their own said they put in a performance chip in the DME is this the problem? I'm thinking about replacing the DME with another used one that is for sale on this site.

Soldier, there could be a number of reasons for the 'no start' issue. Has it only happened once, and not again since?
Clark Fletcher has put together a great 944 how-to repair site which includes a diagnostics page for no-start conditions. You may want to check it out, especially before you go replacing parts. http://www.clarks-garage.com/

Yes Ken it happened only one time but now I'm scared to let my wife (her car) drive it to far from home. We have handycapped kids and I just can't leave to pick her up. I'll check out the Clark's site, thanks.
