Thanks all again for the kind words.

Wormhole, I did purchase them from a fellow rennlister, not certain about the ebay thing though.......

Sean, install was not too difficult, it was a learning curve. Once I had the special tool (thanks pete!) and was able to put the first one together, the second one was a snap! I'd give it a 2 out of 10 on difficulty factor.

Olli, I may be interested. PM me. I have a spare set of side markers so it may work out. I may have plans to get the 968 door handles evenually, I need to get the lock situation sorted out (as my car has early locks and are not as swappable as later ones, from what I can gather).

I didn't realize those photos were so dark, they looked good on my other monitor but on this one they look dark. Here is a better one (larger version of my avatar):

tifosiman, do you have the 964RS part numbers available for the guts of the mirrors?

I used to have the little baggies with the part#'s on them but I threw them out. I think Sunset Porsche sells these now (I have heard that stock is good on them again) so you could give them a call to order or get the part#'s from them.

Wow, this is an old thread. My car looks different now~

Can you elaborate on the special tool? Is it something I can make up from scrap parts or is it hand-carved in Bavaria? I have a set of 968 mirrors ready for painting for the silver car.

Thanks

I'll need to snap some photos in the near future and do so. It hasn't changed too much in the last 1.5 years but it is certainly different than the shots in this thread~

Thanks, I was wondering if that was the special tool you were talking about. Looks pretty simple and I have all the new parts including the pins. Now I just hope my paint and clear coat is a good match. I've heard the Sapphire Metallic is one of the harder colors to match.

Jeremy! Its been a while! Any chance of you making it to Renntreffen this year? I'd bet you'd have a good chance of taking the Peoples Choice award with your car.

I did the same thing for my 951, the CS parts were available from Sunset. The entire mirror kits are usually cheaper new from Sunset than most of the used ones for sale on ebay, go figure.

Regards,
