my headlights suck!

pearl, those are the "economy" Hella E-codes, which aren't the greatest. I assume that is $49.50 each rather than a pair. If it's for a pair, go for it. But if it is for each, you have already crossed over the line and want quality lenses. Cibie or Hella Supers. I sell the Cibie for $105 a pair now and could get you the Hella Supers but that would take a few months from Europe. And cost over $140 for the pair. Both the Cibie and Supers are equal performers. Then you need to get some H4 bulbs, which I could talk to you about.
There was a thread last week all about this.

I agree, our lights suck. I did replace my old sealed beams with Silverstars and did notice a difference. Remember, Pearldrum, even the best lighting can't overcome certain conditions like we had recently, though I would guess the Iceshark would go a long way to correcting the issue. Also, having the euro driving/fog combo wouldn't hurt either...

I have yet to install the Iceshark kit, but as an intermediate step, I put in the Cibie H4s with 55/60w bulbs. Even with the stock wiring, they are FAR better than the OE lights. They are both much brighter and no longer have the sickly, yellowish pall. If you don't want to spend $100, you can get Indian knock offs for $40-50 per pair, including bulbs. I've never seen them in person, but I'd imagine that they're a big improvement.

I put the ebay lights on. They're cheap, brighter than stock, and cheaply made. They're a decent solution for me, since I rarely drive the car after dark. If I was out late habitually, I'd have to get something else.

I generally don't drive my car at night but omigosh, I had to drive home in the dark yesterday and yes - the lights are about as effective as birthday cake candles. They are awful. I had to use the high beams just to get acceptable output. And keep in mind I decided to turn on my fog lights as well and it still didn't help.

I'm just going to go to autozone and get some better halogen bulbs for now, I don't think I've ever replaced my lights and my car sat for 7 years before I bought it...so who knows how old they are.

For about $150 you can get the lenses and bulbs from iceshark and dismiss the wiring. I did that and that alone improved my headlights about 500% in my mind. For me, its pleeeenty good enough, whereas the old stock lighting was in my opinion too dangerous to drive with (and no I wouldnt drive the car at night unless an emergency).
