You can give me a 928 S4, GT or GTS anyday. I think the GT & GTS's were 5.4L if im not mistaken and the other 928 models were 5.0L

I haven't seen anyone mention about stuffing a 928 engine in a 944. Has anyone tried it? Can it even fit? They are quite a lump at 600lbs. It would mess up the 50/50 weight distribution for sure. But it would seem a more appropriate choice than putting an American V8 in there, which makes me sick (sorry Predator).

Just curious. Being the purist that I am, I wouldn't do it. But it would be technically interesting.

Hey thanks everyone I GREATLY appreciate it. I think I'll stick with the original plan of my first P-car being the 951. I already told my husband, plan on me owning several P-cars in the coming years. Of course he wants to start collecting antique fire engines, so I shouldn't have any problems in that arena!

You guys are wonderful as sounding boards for ideas. Thank you again!

KMR racing has a tube frame 944 with a 928 engine. The reason would be that with a relatively cheap SC a 928 motor can make 500 HP and boat loads of torque. Unfortunately, it wont fit in the 944 chassis without work.

I thought I had read once (and seen pictures) of a DP motorsports conversion where they put the V8 into a 944!

Actually, there were more engines than 2... the first 928 motor was 4.5l, next was same size higher compression, followed by the 4.7l 928S and another with higher compression (928S2), followed by 3 different 5.0l (928S4/SE/CS/GT), and finally the GTS motor with 5.4l and higher yet compression (10.4:1). I love that car! (For those who are wondering, no I didn't remember all of that off the top of my head).

Blau - if they put it in a 944 chassis it wasnt without work to the chassis. I.e. it will NOT bolt in. And Yeah, a 5.4L 340HP car is a nice drivers car.

Oh, absolutely it required significant fab work. Definitely NOT bolt-in. Let's face it, if they were, we would all have V8's!
