I always believe in getting a really good cat so I don't have to waste time when I need to go in for a check. The trip to the store, smog check and retest, screwing with the car to get it to pass probably could be made simpler by getting the magnaflow cat (reputable brand) delivered to your house to start with. If you take it off afterwards, leave it in your garage while you use the straight pipe.

I'm a bit stretched for cash, what would be wrong wiht a brand new cat if i'm putting it on and getting inspected like the next day? I would imagine I should pass easily wiht it being brand new.

Well, the catalytic converter is now out. Spent an hour or so today and unbolted it and dropped it. Took a picture of what inside the muffler end of it looks like... I think we found the problem in my emissions!!

I got a 2.5 in/out cat and some extra pipe and my dad will weld it for me this weekend. Woohoo! Let you know on monday if I passed or not!

That's not pretty - do you think something shot through there, or just rattled itself apart with all your squeeling around corners?!
I'll hope for you this Monday.

I don't know. I think it's just real old. I saw another picture, i think on the 944&944 S board? wehre the same thing happened. It's probably just real old (probably original) and just gave up.
