good to hear! the local autoparts store sells rebuilt complete cv's for the 944 (actually a VW part) for about $75 each. Better than $200 from the porsche specialist sites/catalogs.

I had the same problem with rebuilds, my 951 took a longer shaft than what they sent me. Had to swap the joints over to my shaft, throw old joints/boots on new shaft, return that as the core. My rebuilds also had very little grease in them, I packed those mothers full of redline synthetic cv2.

These halfshafts were approx. $95 each, so I'm assuming you mean "halfshafts" rather than "cv's" - otherwise the cost would be inSANE!
