Child seat for 944
#17
I put child seats in my 944. At one point, I had two back there. The key thing in my car was a tether to the cargo area to keep the seats upright because there were only lap belts in the rear.
I used CENTURY seats that I am sure are no longer made since my youngest is now six.
I modified the seats by attaching a reinforced anchor point near the top of the seats and a ratcheting web belts to tie down points in the cargo area. Worked fine. Just look for a seat with the smallest possible base. I have pix of my set up but at my home computer.

This one has the tether system. There is one that goes back to the hook in the back near the tailight. It has 2 that attach to the lower rear of the seat and i pulled those between the rear seat tob & bottom and hooked those to some other oints in the hatch. The thing is really in tight.

Hey Pete...
Funny, that child seat looks as big as the regular back seat!
Too bad you just can't spend the fifty bucks on a little harness made just for her!
p.s. - fixed the AC on 85.5. Running on R134a now, and it's much colder with original compressor than the Vertex compressor was on the 83. . . . of course, we haven't had any really hot days since I fixed it!

Vacuum pumping didn't reveal any leaks (it held for a couple of hours), and the compressor ran fine. If there's a leak, it's a slow one. It's been a week now. If it leaks out, I'll put dye in it and replace what's necessary, but it had more R12 than I was expecting, so maybe I'll get lucky here...

I'm just glad that you're enjoying it and it's treating you right. It was always a great car to me. I can't believe I suffered without the A/C for so long and it turned out to be an easy fix.
