Default Can I be leaking oil from here?

When I had my car up on jackstands for a week It gave me an opportunity to check on my oil leaking situation. The photo shows where I think the oil is comming from. on the upper right you can see the exhaust manifold and on the upper left it the place where the torque tube bolts up to the bellhousing. the hole with the oil around it appears to be a view to my clutch and flywheel. why it there oil around there? is my clutch soaked in oil? would a rear main seal leak do this?

I dont think you should be gettin oil around that area from a rear main seal leak. I would guess you have a rear balance shaft seal out on the passenger side, and when you drive it blows back all over the bellhousing. Without being able to look in person, that is my guess. What are we playing for?

Wait a second, is that picture sideways? If that oil is on the bottom of the bellhousing, then yes it could be a rear main....if the picture is like it looks and the oil is on the right side of the bellhousing, then go with my previous diagnosis.

Possibilities then: Rear cam cover seal. Cam cover gasket. Rear balance shaft cover.

There should be a little shield piece in front of the flywheel but behind the oil pan that you may be able to take off. With that off you can see if the oil is coming from the rear main which would cover that side of the flywheel....Can you see anything coming from your oil pan gasket?

From what I see in the picture, it looks as the oil is coming out of the hole toward the upper right side of the bellhousing. You can kinda see the flywheel through said hole. This would lead me to a rear main seal. As for the severity, how much oil do you "use" between changes?

the strange thing is no, the car does not use much oil. over one year I add maybe one quart extra. April-November about 6,000 miles. I really need to clean the underside of the car and then check for the first signs of oil leaking. most of the oil marks have been there for a long time. they just get wet from the leaking brake fluid and leaking coolant! (its really not that bad, or so I tell my self)
