Default Cruise control gone insane

First, my cruise control has never worked consistently.

When I start my 944S2, occasionally I hear this "bap-bap-bap" sound from the engine area in sync with light tapping on the accelerator pedal. Idle and else is all fine, and if I ignore it and drive off it goes away as soon as I'm driving at around 20mph.

This feels very similar to when I tried to use the cruise control to speed up. In that case, though, the tapping on the accelerator pedal seemed much stronger.

Any recommendations? Does this sound like any familiar problem?

I'd planned to disconnnect the cruise control today and see if it happens again.

thanks,
Bryan

If you don't have the cruise control engaged, then it is the servo. Disconnect the servo (the round plug attached to the servo in front of the battery) and see if you still have the problem.

Thanks much, George! That worked perfectly.

Mine does this occasionally. It goes away after I restart the car.
