944/968 Conversion

Well, thats actually what my long-term goal is. Ill invest in a supercharger kit (SFR looks to be the best for a 968) after I finish this engine swap, upgrade the brakes and suspension, and some body/interior mods. That will be a ways down the road, though. Possibly next winter :P

I ~hope~ to be finished by next weekend. The last remaining items I have are : bleed the clutch, install the starter, finish the wiring/vacuum lines, and top off the fluids.
The project has been a lot more complicated than I anticipated. I’ve had to do a lot of "custom" work to the car. Every time I try to do something, its like taking 3 steps forward and 2 steps back. I’ve learned a LOT about the car, MUCH more than I ever thought I would. The guys here at Rennlist have been pretty damn helpful.
Ill post some pics as soon as the project is completed.
Thanks!

Jared, Awesome, I am humbled, I just do an engine swap on my car, nothing like throwing a 968 engine in, but pretty crazy. I hope that it runs great for you, mine gave me a few problems at first, but after about 20hours of work after the fact it is great, post some pics when you get a chance!

Ok, heres some pics of my progress as of today, and some fabrication I have done.
The MAF trap was purchased from Lindsey racing, and the air intake itself is custom fabricated. I replaced all the old battery cables, as you can tell they REALLY needed to be changed. The S2 radiator did not fit, obviously. So I had to cut out the old bracket, and piece together something that would work.
I rhino lined the battery area.... The lining is very durable, and looks very good.
So far so good.... All I have left is the rest of the vacuum lines and the wiring. Keep your finger crossed!!

WAY cool, Jared. I really admire your dedication to sticking with YOUR car, too. Still dunno if'n I'd sink $7000 into it, but bro, you win Porsche-lover of the Year Award hands DOWN.
Suspension and brakes are the next deal, like others have said. M030 stuff would bring it up to Turbo spec, which is more than enough. You oughta call your dismantler and see what he's got in the way of that stuff.
One more thing, Jared...
MORE PICS! MORE PICS!!

Yea.... I already have that covered. I purchased a M030 setup off of a 89 turbo S from the guys for about 1000. I got a hell of a deal, I really couldn’t pass it up. That’s going to be the winter project......
I’m not sinking THAT much money into the car, considering that I got it for free I figured that If I rebuilt the old motor, valve job, etc.... + the cost of the car would = the amount of money I had put into it this year. Yea, I know.... stupid logic. But it makes sense to me :P

Exactly, man. And while I said I may not sink a bundle into an early 944 shouldn't suggest that I don't have UTMOST respect and admiration for your dedication and even courage to attempt such a job. Like I said before, keep the pics rollin', dude.
