Bad clutch !?
Howdy, was a good day until i went to drive my car and the clutch pedal went to the floor and stayed there. the car is an 88, just got it a few weeks ago. Any ideas, hoping it isn't toasted.

I took some pictures of the little thing on the bottom of the car that has fluid on the concrete underneath it, but i cannot post them because of membership. Also, my car is now stuck in first gear, is there anyway to get it out of gear so it can be moved?

email me a picture so i can see what it is. Karl@wilen.us Wont get back to you tonight as i am headed to see a movie. can you shift gears with the car off? It could be a bad hose leading from the master clutch to the slave clutch as well.

Pull the pedal up and leave it for a while. See if you can pump up the clutch. You can't have any pressure against the trans or you can't pull it out of gear. Can't be parked on a slope.

Unfortunately i am parked on a slope. i'll see if a couple of friends can push me forward enough to take it out of gear. Pedal will not hold pressure, tried for about 30 minutes and no luck, any thoughts?

i am a complete noob on this seeing as how ive never had my head under the hood of a porsche, only VW's, but maybe try bleeding the system before jumping right to the conclusion the clutch master/slave cylinder is gone? is there a bleeder on the slave cylinder anywhere? on the master? if so maybe try putting a piece of rubber hose over the end of that and into the fluid resevoir...if you see air bubbles that means air in the system and could be why your clutch did that...again im not to familiar with porsches yet...but i know thats worked for me on a few other cars..left the car off, pumped the clutch til no more bubbles, then started it and pumped it some more, til the clutch felt ok, retightened the bleeder nipple and i was good to go...dont hurt me to bad if i sound like a complete moron

LPDubber,
I usually break more stuff on cars than i fix, so i usually do not work on them; therefor i could not possibly say you do not know what you are talking about. i will look around to find out how to bleed the system. Thank you for the suggestion.
