Hey guys,
Well, my car starts right off the bat, but after it starts it sort of "hesitates" for the first few seconds and then runs normal.
Any ideas?
Thanks as always!

same here.......... I was thinking it might be the fuel filter or the intake boot. (because my fuel filter needs to be changed, and the intake boot is a little cracked.)

sorry guys.......but that is the head gasket....
It doesnt mean its bad....yet.
It just warms up and then runs better.......as time goes on it will take more time to run better..and it will feel like the car is running on only 3 cylinders for a while.....which it will be![ducking](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/icon107.gif)
but for now yall are okay!!
-edit---after we did the head gasket and overhaul on my engine the car starts..usually on the first and a half or second turn of the starter!!
and idles flawlessly

edit #2----okok it could be a NUMBER of things......but i stick to my reasoning

Campeck are you serious? What do you base your diagnosis on?
I have a similar issue with my 968. It occurs when I have not driven for a while.
The fuel filter, cap and rotor have a little over a thousand miles on them. The DME relay and plugs have less than 5K.
Although when I changed the fuel filter I did not change the check valve between the filter and pump. If this check valve is malfunctioning it will allow pressure to drop or fuel to empty between the pump and the engine. This could be the cause.
The check valve is high on my list of items to change.

dude, Ashton my car does that now and I've traced practically everything on there and the only things i can think of are possibly an old idle stabilizer valve. There's no way a headgasket could be displaying symptoms like that without hearing a *fsssh* noise or seeing coolant and oil seeping out of the head.
Bruce is right about the check valve too, my 928's fuel pump check valve is faulty and it hesitates to start when warm. ![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
BTW, you are such a Pecker...

hmmm....ok.. I geusse since I didnt have oil and stuff coming out of the clinder head that my headgasket wasnt blown????
mine blew in a tottally different fasion than normal.....My coolant was getting pressurized to extreme blowing holes in hoses levels.........headgaskets go in different ways...and that sounds like the begginings of it![Stick Out Tongue](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
no hard felling..I try to help and I always seem to get condradicted in a nice but at the same time mean way...LOL!!

A weak battery is something I have considered. In fact I pulled into Sears for a battery test. It cost $10 and their machine told them not to sell me a new battery even though I wanted one.
So I am looking at other possibilities first.

Pologuy, what kind of car you got? Try checking your airflow meter for having grooves cut into the resistance strip... I've heard that if you adjust the innards of the AFM to avoid those grooves it can improve idle and reduce hesitation and stuff. Maybe someone else can elaborate...
