85.5 944's did not.

Per US law, 86>onward passenger cars were supposed to have a third brake light, but there was some grey area in the law regarding the production date.

That was the pre-production 951 that Freddy Baker & Co. ran. Too bad Porsche couldn't capitalize on the stomping this car did. Engineers from GM and Ford were in complete awe of this car. My dad was there. I was 20 then- partying in Puerto Vallarta. I later met up w/ him to catch the F1 race in Detroit.

I just checked out a couple of my old Road and Tracks, and found something interesting. In the October of 83 issue, there is a picture of a 944 Turbo running in the Trans Am series. Updated front, rear valence and all. So it looks like pre-production 951s w/ early dashes were made earlier than we though.
