Motor Mounts

I bought a set of motor mounts when my timing chain broke and now I think they're screwed up! When I had my engine out for the clutch job I saw small cracks in the rubber and now when I take off I have a bad vibration. I know part of that is the clutch breaking in but it's excessive because the exhaust is banging the undercarriage! Damn this sux!
Don't buy cheap motor mounts! I paid $100 for the pair and now I'm going to have to buy some original ones. Oh well...
Does anybody here have solid mounts? On a mainly street car? Some opinions are welsome.
Thanks!

i've heard solid mounts are a big no-no. i got the OEM ones from 944online, i didn't feel like fooling around with the cheap ones. dad got them on the auto - and they lasted all of 10k miles. the next owner is replacing them soon i hear...
you get what you pay for! caveat emptor!
i'd like to hear more about solid mounts... but i'm not sure if i'd be into paying for them. maybe rennbay can start making them... ahem... travis... ahem...

First...make sure your shaft timings are correct.
If you think the vibration sux now, stay away from solid mounts. They work great for high power/minimal seat time applications, hell, some track cars eliminate the balance shafts all together! When I bought my 951 there was a hideious shudder between 2k and 2.5k (not enough to bang the undercarriage!) and new $150 a pair "turbo" mounts cured that. Of course...after making sure the timing was correct.

so much for spell check

I've got 35,000 miles plus on new (well, they WERE new!) factory mounts. Wouldn't consider aftermarket ones. Too many stories of prematre failure. May be the most drammatic single improvement to the car when I bought it.
