Default Rough Running Part II

I have checked most everything out. I am pretty sure all the vacum lines are ok. Most hold and pull a vaccum. Fuel and spark are being delievered. All four cylinders are running. I did a test of the MAF, and the TPS today. I just unplugged them while the car was running. When I unplugged the MAF the car would not idle good and kept wanting to die. So I figured that sensor is working. Then I unplugged the TPS and it seemed to help the idle a little bit. It didn't idle as rough. I was wondering does that mean it is bad or should I start looking for something else.

Could be any one of several things, but one often overlooked item is the motor mounts. If they are shot the car will not idle well.

When I pulled my engine out the other day, the passenger side motor mount was REALLY bad. It had a really big hole in the bottom and the stud was moving around with a lot of free play.

There are three things i would suggest that you check:

1) Check/replace the fuel injector sensor, located on the cylinder head nect to the water temperature sensor. It has a blue top and you cannot miss it.

2) Check/replace your O2 sensor, over the years, its goes bad.

3) Check/clean/replace the idle stabiliser, it CAN be removed (with some patience and persuation) w/o removing the intake manifold.

Here is a link that should give you hints/clues on rough idle:

Check that your air adjustment screw is still in the hole in the top of the throttle body. They fall out.
