I think he might throw the temp fan switch in while its on the lift as well. Ill let you know how it goes, but I have no worries...he comes heavily backed with supporters!

If you were close by I would.
Even though no one ever "showed" me.

Man, front and rear brakes are soooo easy to do, why not do them yourself?

Dont listen to these people. They say its not hard but Ive seen them. They are semi pros. What takes them 10 minutes will take you 10hrs and thats just the first go round. Youll break at least three pieces of car along the way. Its not worth the aggravation. You will f*ck it up unless you know exactly what you are doing. Someone told me "oh yeah, replacing your headlights is real easy. Nothing to it." They are all lying sacks of ****. Took me 2 and and half hours and I nearly tore off a headlight trying to get the f*cking black plastic stuff to snap back together right. I never did get it right. I went outside three times in the driveway and yelled at God. I felt like the biggest pickle tit. Trust me. I know. Whenever they say "yeah you can do that no problem" what they are really saying is, "yeah you can do that no problem if you work on your car." Whats a brake pad? All I know is I got things inside my wheels that says PORSCHE on them. I assume that stops my car. All the gizzards inside, well I wouldnt know about that stuff.

An alternative is to find a Rennlister to do it for you. Buy them a few cases of Schlitz. Save yourself the sanity.

Dont say I didnt warn you mate.

I used to get all my stuff at Tweeks (now Mid America Motorworks) because they were so close. I'd call them in the morning then pick up my parts at will-call. I'm not sure how far Effingham, IL is for you- but I would always think of another couple of things on the way and just get them while I was there. They have most everything in stock.
You can find cheaper prices but will pay shipping.

www.mamotorworks.com

Paragon and Pelican are good choices as well. There are quite a few suppliers- I'm sure someone else will chime in with others for you to check out.

No affiliation- just my personal experience.

UDPride- another one to define! Pickle tit.

Antonioali, If you're considering doing the brakes yourself, I'd be glad to help. Are you doing rotors and pads, or just pads? Where in Indiana are you located?

Jerad said it best - he's brutally honest. He's also the nicest car I guy I've ever met. Leslie takes the 85.5 to him whenever something pops up - and he has always been extremely courteous to her and will work on the car on the weekend for her b/c he knows it is hard for her to get up to Indy during the week.

He has a daughter in school as well, so that could have something to do with it - but I really think most of it is just his personality. I think he's getting tired of cars, though - and he really is more of a fan of the 911s.

One famous Farmer interchange:

Jerad: "Bob, how hard would it be to put a 3.0l into my NA?"
Bob: "Why in the hell would you want to do that?"
Jerad: "Well, I really love my old NA"
Bob: "So you're going to spend that much money just to never have a chance in hell of getting it back again?"
Jerad: "Yeah, I just really love the car."
Bob: "Boy, just buy a 911SC."

He's definitely a straight-shooter - $60 to re-tension belts that he didn't do in the first place I've had him do everything from clutch to belts to brakes and not one complaint.

He even (over the phone) helped Stephen Magown solve his no oil pressure problem while Stephen was calling from LA.

BTW...

He has no lifts.. the entire operation is done with jacks.

It's pretty amazing to see him work - the last of a dying breed.

I think the last line was more like this: "Boy! your an idiot, just by a 911SC!"

Needless to say, he had me looking at SC's after that but they were just out of my price range.

Another great quote from a couple years back:

Me: "Bob, I want to get a 951."
Bob: "Well, it's fast for what it is."
Me: "What is it?"
Bob: "It's not a 930, that's for sure."

And, of course:

"I knew that SOB was lying when he said this thing weighed 2700#. I knew it was at least 2900# when it didn't jump that crown in the road out there."

LOL. I really, really miss him.

Micah
