AC switch doesn't turn on fans, but thermostat does... what's up?
OK, I searched.
I'm still confused and couldn't find a similar thread in my search.
Here's the deal. I worked on and recharged the AC today (with R12). Amazingly, the system held vacuum for about 45minutes with no drop, and very little there-after. I assumed that there would be a huge hole somewhere!
While filling with freon I turned the AC switch to high and expected the fans to kick on - no go. So I turned off AC and waited until the car warmed up to a temp where the thermostat kicked the fan(s) on. Oddly, both fans came on at that point, though AC was OFF.
When I turned on AC there was no fan speed change, but cold air blew inside the cabin and HOT air blew into / around the engine bay (daa). High pressure stayed at about 150 to 175 (OK? I think).
After reading various threads about the topic, I can stumble to the weak conclusion that I should check the AC relay - but before doing so, I want someone more expert than myself to help out.
What should I do next to fix this?
(No wires are visibly broken or exposed and the thremo circuit works well (as far as I've been able to tell anyway)

Umm last I checked, the thermostat does not turn on the fans on a 944, rather the thermostat fan switch does.....located in the radiator.....All the thermostat does is open and let the hot water get to the fan switch in order to let it know to turn on the fans......
And on all 944's as soon as you turn on the air, so will the fans.....

Well, at $40 odd dollars from Paragon, the relay is definately worth a shot.
I love giving them business anyway!
If it's not TOO rude, how do you "know" it's your relay?
(Keep in mind that I know very little!)
