I'd advise against Lisle bits too; I twisted the teeth off of mine in the cam bolt. I stuck it on a bench grinder and ground it down to good metal and it worked though.
I talked to an old mechanic about the bits, and he called them "spline drive," if that helps. He said he had a set of them, and they were snap-on, but he didn't know where I could get them...any suggestions?

Three Wheelin'
All this talk of Checker tools....you guys scare me.....When it comes to the 12 points try to spare no expense.....as Matt H is right you sure as hell dont want to round one of those 12 point bolts....I like my MAc ones....They have a double sided tip, so if ever one of the tips breaks or something you can just pull it out of the driver, flip it over and bam....a new 12 point to go back to work with......But they are not cheap....I paid like 200 or so for a 5 piece set.....
Also when ever you are going to try and unscrew a 12 point....first always be sure to clean out all of the dirt and crap fom the head of the bolt before you try to jam the 12 point in there and start cranking.....The teeth are very fine on a 12 point so it is quite easy to round these babys out.....and they arent cheap either at the dealer....And remember slow evan pressure...

I bought mine from Snap-On... $45CDN.
Needless to say I was REALLY pissed when I found out Acklands-Grainger has them for $10CDN... IIRC they were Lilse but maybe not.
Dunno if you guys in the US have Acklands-Grainger, but we dont have PepBoys and Kragen and that crap...
