A/C short belt ???? Help !!!
OK, I need my AC
I was doing the conversion to 134 ( the cheap way ) and The low side being on the compressor eliminates any way to put on the new fitting..
I HAVE the 90 degree fitting, but it is my understanding that there is a SHORTER AC belt that allows a different placement of the compressor allowing the fitting to go on.
The trouble is that I have no idea what part # the belt is, or how much shorter it needs to be
Can anyone help me here ????
It's an early 944
I drove around LA, OC, & San Diego today ( 340 miles ) mostly stop & go with NO AC.. I have to put the AC on to kick in the 2nd fan..
Also, a NAPA part # would be great ...
Thanks again, Don

Hey;
You should be able to AT LEAST order a marginally shorter poly-v belt from any auto parts store, if not pick one up right there. They are not as incrementally plentiful as good old v-belts, but it should be doable.
NAPA is usually a good choice for things that are less than obvious.

The belt number listed in my Gates catalog is K050400. The length is listed as 40 5/8".
The next shorter belt is K050398 at 40 3/8".
The next shorter belt is K050396 at 40 1/4".
The next shorter belt is K050390 at 39 5/8".
If you need something shorter, the store should have a Gates or similar catalog with V-belts listed by part number that should also list length.
