Default wiper conundrum

Alright, checked archives, found some information, however...
My windsheild wipers will not work on intermittent, took the relay out and dried it(it had gotten wet from water flooding and coming trough dash.) Wipers work on slow and fast, now the intermittent wipers work with the relay in, but stop in the middle of the windsheild. How does one re-align the wipers? TIA

I guess you could just loosen the bolt at the bottom of the arms and swing the wipers to the down position, then tighten the bolt.

azndrvr447-
not only the battery tray but the 'tray' on the driver's side will get full of water, probably because the plug is blocked, and the water comes through the inlet for air near the blower motor under the hood in between the two 'trays.'

pearldrum944- well when the relay is in, the intermittent wipers stop in the middle of the windsheild, but the slow and fast speed works properly, meaning the begin and end placement of the wipers is correct-now that to me is a conundrum!

Mine does the same thing. Repositioning the wipers on the splines will only make them "park" in the wrong position in the slow and fast mode. If I remember correctly, there was a post a while back that dealt with disassembling the wiper motor and cleaning all the contact points. I am currently in the process of buying another wiper motor, as I have also changed the pertinent relay(s) with the same results.

you need to take out the relay and resolder the joints. i did this and it fixed the very same problem. new relays aren't cheap - mine had a cracked circuit board. thanks super glue!

I have a similar problem with my wipers, just when i move the switch to the intermitten position, the wipers turn on for 3 wipes then shut off. Exactly the way they would act if you pulled on the switch to clean the windshield. All other functions work, have changed the relay also but still does not work correctly. Likley a problem with the switch, but ive never really looked at it.

I pulled the motor and cleaned all the contacts which weren't bad at all. I've inspected the relay and it looks perfect, but haven't been able to test another relay. Any other thoghts on this?

I would have thought that would have done it. I have a relay in my n/a which works fine, but when I put it in the 951, it has the same problem you described. I'm pretty sure it isn't the relay though.

PO removed the relay completely on mine - the wipers worked but would not park or give intermittent. I was not sure if my car was supposed to have a relay so bought a second hand one dirt cheap (Porsche-Apart in the UK) and they now work as advertised.

Be careful 'realigning' the wipers. Get it wrong and they could try to dig into the base of the windscreen.

Cheers,

Chris

Mine just go on or off and are VERY slow.

I am appreciating this info, as it may apply to me as well.

Had this problem. Chased it through the switch, relay, and motor. New motor. Solved by replacing the wiper rack adn motor with a new used one. When I took apart the old motor it was like a can full of rust.
