Ok guys and gals I'm working on an '89 S2 and I'm gonna start at the basics. What can cause a weak spark or a no spark situation? Not too familiar with the S2 motor so you'll have to be specific. Right now it does spark but it seems like it's extremely weak and yellow.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Bad wires or coil or coil connections. Check your wiring.

most comon on a S2 from my experience, if you have a fuel pulse but no spark has always been a control unit.

I think I'll look into the coil too, it got hit when this car was wrecked. It's slightly dented but at the time I didn't think anything of it. What other wiring are you refering to? Is there any way to check the control unit without going and buying a new one?
