Default Speakers in the 924S/944

I know that when getting speakers for this kind of car that they have to be the right size. So what brand should I get. I don't want to spend too much money on it because this is supposed to be just a fun little car. Also I will be adding a 12" alpine type-s sub in the future. So bass response from the speakers isn't a huge deal. Are pioneers speakers any good or no? What brands should I look at maybe some models numbers so I can look at them?

I'd suggest that you pull the speakers on your car and measure the depth, if you're only doing the front. I found speaker recommendations at crutchfield.com, but their measurments were on the conservative side. Most speaker manufacturers will tell you how deep their speakers are, so you can figure it out for yourself if you're careful.

Also, try doing a search of the archives on this board. I found lots of info that way. People have discussed which brands/models fit which cars.

As for what's going to sound good, that's a matter of personal preference. You should try to find a stereo store where they'll let you listen to a speaker on the wall. Having said that, just about ANY aftermarket speaker will be an improvement on what they put in these cars. Especially regarding the front set. Good luck.

I put Pioneer 4x6 3 ways in the doors and Pioneer 6x9 3 ways in the cut outs that the PO made near the rear wheel wells.
They sound good for $200 cdn.
