What adjustment pins? Do I have these on my 84 ?

 

I used vice grips, too, since one of the pins on my car was seized. At first I was worried about damaging something, like the catch at the end or the threads. Then it occured to me that I'll never use the threads down at the end. The post will never need to be that short. So that's where I grabbed it. I still wrapped it in a rag, but the threads got scored up anyway.
