Mile High: With an attitude like yours, you are sure to make a lot of friends here.
What kind of 944 are you looking for? Na? S2? Turbo? S? Turbo S?
There's a lot of nice 944's for $8000, you could get a god 86 951, a nice S2 or a really nice low mileage NA for that price. All depends on what you want.

Welcome!

944 Fanatic,

I would prefer a 951 but with $8K as a budget, I'm not sure I can find one! I want to ensure that I can budget for maintenance both preventative and reactive. Whatever the outcome, I will enjoy the Porsche experience.

ECUdooberhead,

Yes, I am out of Ft Bragg. Interesting to see you have a Custom 1200. I just sold my V-Rod. I did have a Sporty but I was just a bit too tall for it at 6'1." I did love that bike, though!

All the Way.

Never think you can't get a nice 951 for less than $8K. I've bought 2 here in NorCal since October for $4600 (sold) and $5900 (mine). Neither car had serious issues and looked great. I know 951's are a bit higher in the East but there seem to be plenty around here less than $8K. My 83 N/A is one solid car and I paid $2500 for it. Be patient and network with Rennlist folks and I'm sure you will find what you are looking for. This group is the best, sometimes we eat our young but we always recover, well almost always!

Steve,

Great post. I quickly learned that Autotrader, despite the abundancy of 944s, wasn't the site for me. However, there are a couple of cars owned by PCA members that may have been maintained. Still, I think it's best to go to the source. That's why I think I will find a nice example here.

Anyone on Ferrari Chat that's on here? I'm looking at a lightly used Ferrari F430 and was wondering if there are any cross brand owners on RL?

I think I may have found a rare car. It's already addressed the sticky buttons, and it also has a sport exhaust added to eliminate the failed weld points on the muffler. I'm having a PPI done on it tomorrow to check the manifold. I have already confirmed with the servicing dealer that there has been no major work done on it other than installing the sport exhaust, and they told me the last visit was in May for a BIG maintenance service to change ALL the fluids. PLUS, the clutch is only at 17% wear! I feel lucky! I'm going to play the lottery
