Front Bearing Cap interference
When attempting to mount some "new" wheels on our '89 944
I found that the front wheel centers were not quite big enough
to get past the ridge on the front wheel bearing caps so the
wheels will not bolt down squarely to the hub. These are 2002
Boxster 5 spoke wheels in 16 x 6 size. The rears (16x7) fit fine....
Any ideas ?

Hello, Jim,
You will have to have the centers of the Boxster wheels enlarged to fit.
Of course, you shouldn't be running six inch wide wheels on the front anyway, just increases the amount of oversteer.

So, more of my ignorance .... what makes the difference between a 205x50 on a 16/6 and a 205x50 on a 15/7 cause greater oversteer ?

I had the same problem. I just left the caps off. No problems so far.
At some point I'll grind the lip down on the cap but for now it works fine without them.
